Description

Part of our Barrel Aged Series, these bourbon barrel wood chunks began their journey as a 100% American white oak barrel aging rye at Buffalo Trace. After it was dumped, the barrel was revived by Alter Brewing in the Chicago suburbs where it aged Smash Tun, a double imperial stout. The result was Bourbon Barrel Aged Smash Tun.

The barrel was then secured directly from Alter Brewing, and then processed and packaged by hand into what you see now.

These vary from our Single Barrel series, which is made from single-use bourbon barrels shortly after they were dumped, packaged by the single barrel. As opposed to other brands, none of these products use fillers. Every piece you get is part of an authentic bourbon barrel. You can see the char and the penetration into the wood and smell the bourbon that was aged in them.
